Bikes Abroad was founded in 2011 in Melbourne, Australia by two motor vehicle enthusiasts with extensive backgrounds in freight forwarding and customs brokerage – read the full story here.
The business initially focused solely on motorcycles due to the founders’ passion for bikes alongside experience in freight logistics, later adding cars as it became apparent there was a need to be filled.
Bikes Abroad has been built to this day by referrals, word of mouth and positive experience – for the first decade and a half we had an extremely basic website, zero social media and no marketing of any kind.
Value and Transparency
We aim to make things easy for you. That’s why we’re transparent with costs and upfront with expectations, so as to avoid unpleasant surprises (e.g. we’ll tell you that a failed quarantine will incur a charge, how much that charge will be, and how to mitigate those costs).
We communicate clearly around what we can and can’t do, and will work through any questions you may have around things like import tax in Australia while ensuring that you’re covered for key considerations, such as import car insurance.
