We can factor in contingency, depending on your needs.

We aim to build in as much as possible but there are pros and cons with that – if you want it there early, you may pay a little bit of storage. If it’s late, you might be sitting in a hotel room waiting for it.

While contingencies are built in, timing can be affected by various factors. Early arrival may incur storage fees, while delays can disrupt travel plans.

As far as the international movement itself goes, there are different things to consider and mitigate, like delays to vessels, delays in schedules, missed connections, late departures, early arrivals and so on.

Ultimately, once we understand your individual needs, we can find a solution which fits as closely as possible.

We can build in more contingency at your request – the contingency factor comes down to how much comfort you have with timeframes, and how much time you have available.

If it’s a classic vehicle purchasing, that’s different to starting a tour overseas and aligning with your own flights.

We run through the all of these questions with every customer to make sure that we’re putting the right solution together.

If we don’t go there, it’s because we can’t guarantee a positive outcome. Simple as that.

In some cases, we do when it comes to outbound journeys, but in most cases, we don’t – not for most shipments.

With any international shipment, you’ve always got to deal with customs.

Here in Australia, we’re very strict about quarantine. So if a vehicle comes into Australia and it’s found to have bugs or soils, plant materials maybe found in in tire tread or wheel cavities or luggage compartments, then that’s a real problem.

In regard to quarantine, you can absolutely clean your bike yourself, but once it’s in the quarantine system here, it’s too late. If a bike fails quarantine here in Australia, we as a customs broker, are required to arrange cleaning via an appropriate official-approved method beforehand. You can’t intervene in that – it is what it is.

Regarding air vs. ocean freight, air freight is substantially more expensive, with the exact difference depending on the route.

It’s a substantial difference and varies on location but typically 50% to 100%.

As little as possible – we aim to minimise the customer’s workload, handling as much as regulations allow.

Though it might sound a bit facetious, we quite honestly do as much as we possibly can, and we try to do it as upfront as possible as well. If we are moving your vehicle from the UK to Australia, we’ll ask for everything that will be needed in London and everything that’ll be required here in Australia.

That means we’ve got everything we need to to operate independently once we get your commitment. There are simple things too, like storage in advance of a customer’s arrival at location, or facilitating independent inspection reports – we have solutions for all of them, because we’ve dealt with every scenario you can imagine.

We take that on wherever we can. In any case that we are able to arrange documentation for people, we will do it, and that’s our default position. There are certain things that we simply can’t do, that we’re not legally allowed to do.

For example, customs at a destination won’t allow or accept information from us, and it has to come from the customer directly. They’re the common situations that that come at us from time to time, but we are here to cover those things as much as we possibly can. That’s not an additional surcharge, that’s just included.

At various times of the year, we do vehicles on a Los Angeles and London consolidation basis – this is when we ship a large amount of vehicles together, which enables us to offer a better price.

We also send container consolidations in their direction seasonally, so that people can start their trips and do a tour of Europe, or ride around the Pyrenees, or head across to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, or whatever it might be.

People sometimes think we’re going to go and buy the vehicle for them, which is not the case. In the early days, we did have a couple of drivers in the US that would pay for vehicles for us, as what the customer essentially is wanting is to avoid scams.

The customer wants to make sure that they they’re not paying for a bike until they’ve got a bike in their hand. To do that, I’m then asking a driver to stuff 10 or 20 grand in his pocket and go to a prearranged meeting in the U.S. That’s risky – you don’t know what you’re going to walk into.

Obviously, it’s just as problematic and risky for us to do that. It may however be something we can offer in the future via an escrow service.

They get ripped off. They don’t get all the pieces of the puzzle put together succinctly the way we do it. They lose their vehicle.

We can’t always do it, but we’re always very forthright, transparent, and open about what is and isn’t included because the average punter that works with us doesn’t know where to look.

Cleaning the bike properly so it doesn’t you know fail quarantine and having your documents in order is probably the simplest.

If we can’t help (e.g. with a “Round The World” bike delivery request), we won’t pretend we can do this, but we will try our best to direct you to someone who might be able to using our extensive network.

It’s very common for us to get compared with others pricing wise – and of course, it goes without saying, we’re not offended by it. Please feel free to check out others working in the same space as us.
